Coshocton DD gives out several awards to DSP ’ s
Each September the Coshocton County Board of DD celebrates direct support professionals ( DSP ) in the county for their hard work , passion , diligence and dedication to the field . DSP ’ s are the backbone to everything the program does . DSP ’ s wear many hats ; they provide hands on care , schedule appointments , provide transportation , help with grocery shopping , cooking , cleaning and most importantly , are a friend to those with disabilities in the community .
This year DSP Appreciation Awards were given to four amazing DSPs in Coshocton County . “ It really is wonderful to celebrate and honor DSP ’ s that are doing the hard work for people with disabilities in Coshocton County . They work hard , are passionate and go above and beyond ,” said Steve Oster , superintendent . Sherrie Simmons , provider relations manager said , “ We feel

it is important to recognize the people who work directly with the individuals in their homes , day programs or the community . They are the ones making a difference , working hard and deserve to be recognized .”
This year there were two winners for the “ WOW !” Award category . The people who receive the WOW ! Award are always amazing and

The first “ WOW !” Award goes to Emily Gray .
Her nominator said , “ She is so patient , never losing her patience or becoming short with the people she works with . She does an outstanding

job of always seeking input and choices from the ladies .”
The second “ WOW !” Award goes to Helen Leist .
Her nominator said , “ There is not anything that Helen is not willing to do for others . When Helen becomes involved with someone ’ s services , she invests herself 100 %. Making breakfast , cleaning the house , or making the grocery list and
shopping is done with exceptional care .”
The person that receives the “ Rockstar Rookie ” Award is the newbie of the DSP world , who has gone above and beyond , built amazing connections and relationships , and has fit right in . This DSP will have worked in this field for less than a year , but in that time , they have made a difference in a positive way .
The “ Rockstar Rookie ” award goes to Julie Robinson .
Her nominator said , “ Julie is “ Loved ” by everyone . The individuals , families , and team members ask for Julie , by name . Julie entered the DD system in July of 2020 with a huge heart , outgoing personality , and a unique ability to make everyone feel relaxed and welcome , every day . She is everyone ’ s friend and advocate .”
