Newcomerstown Historical Society hosting event on Oct . 9
Many recall the story of sacrilege and the wrath of God when they hear talk of Earley ’ s Cemetery , the site of the Bloody Bible legend . Come see Chris Hart , local living historian , as he portrays a member of the band of outlaws who , one night during the Civil War , slaughtered a lamb on the church ’ s altar , soaked the pulpit Bible in blood and called for the dead to come forth . What followed drove the outlaws to madness , leaving them begging to be arrested and punished . The town , however , refused . And what of the Bloody Bible itself ? Attend the presentation to learn the outcome of this tortured tale .
