Coshocton Fun Zone holding haunted house

By Jen Jones
Last year a haunted house was set up in four days , and the public enjoyed it . Mary Hook from the Coshocton Fun Zone said they ’ ve been planning for this year for a while and are eager to share it with the community .
“ The one we did last year , we had a couple of adults who wouldn ’ t finish walking through it ,” Hook said . “ We didn ’ t advertise much , just on Facebook and by word of mouth , and we had a pretty good turnout .”
The haunted house will have cubicles that feature different scenes . “ We don ’ t know what the COVID restrictions will be by then , so we are setting it up to be socially distanced , just in case . The actors will not be allowed to move from their space , and the public won ’ t be able to get near the actors ,” Hook said .
It will be held in the basement of the Coshocton Fun Zone on Friday , Saturday and Sunday from Sept . 24 until the last weekend in October . Hours will be 7 p . m . to midnight on Friday and Saturday and 6-9 p . m . on Sunday .
“ Last year we had some people tell us they couldn ’ t come on weekends because they work , so we had a day through the week too . We are planning on doing that again ,” Hook said .
There is a no-touch policy in place , so anyone who ventures into the haunted house will not be
grabbed by the actors .
“ We are having a photo booth this year with different creatures in it that you can have your picture taken with . We try to keep friends and family together but limit how many people can go in at a time . We try to keep it around five to seven at a time ,” Hook said .
During the haunted house , the escape room will not be available at the Fun Zone , but they are hoping to have their game room with pool tables and arcade games open by then .
The cost of the haunted house is $ 15 per person . For more information check the Coshocton Fun Zone Facebook page . Updates for dates and times will be posted there .
