Try these 3 fun treats for the Halloween season

Crisp air calls for warm sweaters , hot tea and treats . I absolutely love all the yummy things concocted with pumpkin this time of year . There are people who think pumpkin is overrated this time of year , especially in the pumpkin spice lattes available right now , but I don ’ t agree . Pumpkin not only tastes good , but it is good for you with antioxidants and fiber .
Make these pumpkin bars and decorate the squares with fun jack-o ’ - lantern faces . How could you go wrong with serving these to a houseful of kiddos ?
Edith , one of our preschool teachers at Chili Crossroads Preschool at Kids America hates spiders . The kids know this and love to trick her this time of year with plastic creepy crawlies . In honor of Edith , consider making these brownie spiders . They are easy and taste yummy too . All they call for is a pan of brownies , chow mein noodles , some chocolate chips and candy eyes . Put them out on a platter and
For more news ... watch them get devoured .
Apples are so perfect this time of year . Picking apples , dunking them in caramel or chocolate , eating them plain , baked into cobblers and crisps , this fruit has endless possibilities . For a new twist , whip up an apple pie milkshake . It has all the flavors of apple pie put together into a creamy milkshake . What ’ s not to love about that ?

APPLE PIE MILK- SHAKES
21-ounce can apple pie filling ¼ teaspoon nutmeg ½ teaspoon cinnamon 6-8 scoops vanilla bean ice cream 1 cup Nilla wafers 1-2 tablespoons milk
Start by putting about two-thirds of the can of apple pie filling into the blender , then add the nutmeg and cinnamon , along with about 5-6 scoops of ice cream . Depending on your blender , you may have to add a tablespoon or 2 of milk . Take note , less milk or no milk yields thicker milkshakes . Proceed to blend for about 30 seconds until the mixture is nice and smooth . Then add in 1-2 more scoops of ice cream , the Nilla wafer cookies and all but 4 slices of the apple pie filling . Continue to pulse the blender a few times until everything looks incorporated . You do want to have small chunks of apples and Nilla wafers . That creates the apple pie experience . If desired , top with whipped cream , an additional dash of nutmeg or cinnamon , and the remaining slices of apple .
