Noodle making continues at Emmanuel Lutheran

By Josie Sellers For The Beacon
Since 1989 the congregation at Emmanuel Lutheran Church has created batches of homemade noodles to sell at its annual holiday bazaar .
“ All the mixing was done by hand then , but now we have a commercial mixer ,” Linda Storm said . The project was started by Storm ’ s mother . “ She thought noodles would be something good to sell at the bazaar ,” Storm said .
Josie Sellers Prior to the bazaar , volunteers work four days a week for two weeks on the noodles .
In the beginning they used 45 dozen eggs , which cost 35 cents a dozen and made 129 pounds of noodles . By 2008 they were up to 250 pounds of noodles . At that time eggs were $ 1.35 a dozen , and they needed 90 dozen . Today they use 200 dozen eggs and make 500 pounds of noodles .
“ Buehler ’ s gave us a deal at $ 2.50 a dozen for the eggs ,” Storm said .
Prior to the bazaar , volunteers work four days a week for two weeks on the noodles .
“ We have snacks and serve lunch ,” Karen Bowman said . “ We have a good process going with some mixing and some rolling . It works well .
The first 250 pounds of noodles are offered to the congregation for sale , and the rest are sold at the holiday bazaar . The cost is $ 4
