Last Plainfield School reunion held
Sept . 15 , 2024 , will go down in history as being the last Plainfield School reunion honoring friends , neighbors and graduates of the Plainfield School in Plainfield .
On this date more than 70 people united at the Schumaker Farms Picnic Pavilion in West Lafayette . The lunch served by Schumaker Farms was meatballs with barbecue sauce , Parmesan chicken , parsley potatoes , green beans , lettuce salad , peanut butter pie , cheery cheesecake and Texas sheet cake . The picnic shelter was decorated with red , white and blue .
Coming the farthest distance was Mr . and Mrs . Anstine ( Elizabeth Sidel ), who traveled from Arizona to help decorate along with many others .
Stanley Baker and Edward Johnson , members of the Class of 1951 , were honored . Both gentlemen , who were friends , were instrumental in getting the Plainfield reunion started many years ago . Both were friends growing up around Bacon Run , near Plainfield . Baker worked as a supervisor for many years , ending as a supervisor at the Coshocton Cyclopes Plant . Johnson served for more than 30 years in the U . S . Air Force , retiring as a colonel . His book , “ Growing Up Around Plainfield , Ohio and At Some Other Places ‘ Round the World ,” is available at the Coshocton Library .
The afternoon concluded with friends , neighbors and classmates visiting and sharing many school memories .
The current committee of Carl ( McAllister ) Ringer , Nancy ( Johnson ) Grewell , Mary Lou ( Miller ) Overholt , Bob Nelson and Joyce ( Duling ) Sees had many years as planning committee members but will retire as a committee .
Special thanks to Jim Overholt for his computer expertise over the years and Nancy and Walter Grewell for the use of their PA system .
