Coshocton FCA hosts All-Abilities Camp on Oct . 15

William Richcreek was all stretched out and ready to go for the track events at the Coshocton FCA All- Abilities Camp .
The Ridgewood High School eighth-grader was one of about 130 campers who attended the third annual camp on Oct . 15 at Kids America .
“ Our mission is to reach every coach and athlete , and that includes those who have disabilities ,” Nick Johnson from the FCA Coshocton group said .
FCA focuses on engaging , equipping and empowering coaches , athletes and students on all levels to make a difference and impact the world for Jesus Christ .
“ Other area FCA groups were doing allabilities camps , and we decided to do one as well ,” Breanna Kinsey from FCA Coshocton said . “ I love seeing the kids ’ joy . This is a day just for them and to celebrate them .”
Campers came from Coshocton , Ridgewood and River View schools , as well as the Coshocton County Career Center , Hopewell and Echoing Hills . Volunteers from FCA , the community and Coshocton High School ’ s Key Club led them through basketball , track , soccer and football activities . They also all had lunch and an awards ceremony .
“ It ’ s pure joy seeing them compete ,” Johnson said . “ Their smiles are priceless .”
This was the second year Pastor Andy Bird helped at the camp .
“ I have a background in special education and just love getting to celebrate these kids ,” he said .

“ I like the atmosphere ,” Shaw said . “ I ’ ve always enjoyed helping people , and everybody here is so happy .”
He and Skelton were helping with the track events .
“ I like giving all the kids a chance to play
sports and have some fun ,” Skelton said . “ It ’ s nice seeing them play as a team and have a great day .”
River View Elementary kindergartner Camryn Conkle said soccer was his favorite event . “ It ’ s fun to play ,” he said .

Elementary , liked playing football and seeing kids who moved on to River View Intermediate School . “ I got to see my best friends ,” he said .
Grace Burns , a classmate of Richcreek ’ s at Ridgewood , enjoyed the track events , and his favorite activity was basketball . Both said they were having fun competing .
John Strasser , another FCA Coshocton leader , liked watching the football competition .
“ We had them run through cones , and then when they crossed the line , they could spike the ball and dance ,” he said . “ There were two kids that really got into the dancing . One of them couldn ’ t quit hugging me . That ’ s why we do what we do . The kids get so much out of this , but the adults get just as much if not more .”
