An effort is underway to use the Pomerene mansion for the public . The Library Board of Trustees decided to sell after realizing the trust fund operating the mansion would no longer cover operation and upkeep . Funeral home operators Ken and Virginia Free sought to buy the mansion to convert into a new funeral home , but neighborhood residents decided to band together to prevent the sale . Forming the Pomerene Fine Arts Center of Coshocton Inc ., they challenged the sale . County Prosecutor William Owens determined the sale was to be voided . Now the group is offering to share in the operating costs of the mansion , so that it could be used to display and encourage art in Coshocton . “ We ’ re not interested in fighting . We want to do something constructive ,” said organizer Lyle M . Ehrenberg . Another organizer , Richard Brandel , put forward the idea that the newly formed corporation would cover the personnel expenses .
