BANDS
Continued from 36
River View Junior Zoe Hardesty smiled for the camera while walking into the stadium for the competition . She has played flute since fifth grade . “ I ’ m not nervous at all , I just hope we get a win .”
The theme for River View was WILD , including “ Welcome to the Jungle ,” “ Afro Blue ” and “ Africa .” The River View Black Bear band is made up of students in grades ninth thru 12th who meet every school day and three days each week after school .

Donald Trump has called our military servicemen and women suckers and losers . These unselfish , brave men and women should instead be thanked and praised , sacrificing so much so all of us can live our beautiful lives , in this beautiful country , enjoying our most basic freedoms .
There are approximately 2 million female veterans living in the United States . In our country ’ s history , women have died in active service and paid the ultimate price . Others more fortunate have returned home to become laborers , mothers , leaders and public servants .
Because of the extremist Republican Party platform and the Supreme Court decision

Letter to the Editor

of 2022 , our returning servicewomen now find themselves coming back to a country where they have fewer rights than I did as a young woman . All women , of all ages , are in danger should there be a second Trump presidency .
Your Medicare , Medicaid , Social Security and healthcare access are all at risk under a second Trump presidency . The current party platform of senators and representatives routinely votes against the American people and our veterans — those who have given all to this wonderful place we call home .
Now we must vote against him once more , coming together to ensure not only women ’ s rights , but also the
preservation of necessary programs , freedoms and basic human rights our hardworking women and men deserve .
Contrary to what Donald Trump says , we are the greatest nation in the world . At the end of World War II , the whispers in the concentration camps were “ the Americans are coming .” This is who we are and who we must be now , for one another . We are a nation of hope .
