Scarf Project a success
The Scarf Project had another successful year of warming the world one scarf at a time , according to Toni Kaltenbaugh , founder and coordinator .
She said they were contacted by a lady from Grand Junction Co . for instructions on how to start a Scarf Project in that area . They are currently getting ready to distribute their scarves for the first time .
A box of handmade hats and scarves was received from El Mirage , Arizona . The accompanying note said her friend requested she do something nice for someone as her birthday gift . The Scarf Project was chosen as that recipient . They also received a donation of skeins of new yarn from a church in Myrtle Beach , South Carolina . It filled the bed of a Ford F150 pickup and was delivered to Kaltenbaugh ’ s patio . The balance of the donation arrived in the back of an SUV and a car .
The number of individuals who donated hats , scarves , gloves , headbands and mittens was many . There were over 2,000 scarves alone . There were scarves that were knitted , crocheted , sewn and quilted . They were all
new . They did not count the other items that were donated .
Kaltenbaugh said the distribution sites increased , even after the list of 21 sites was printed . The Rite Aid in Coshocton was added , along with The Church of God in Canton , The Restoration Centre in Tuscarawas and Jefferson Park in Cambridge .

Donations of yarn , finished hats , scarves , mittens and gloves ( all new ) can be dropped off at 730 Tuscarawas Ave . NW , New Philadelphia . Donations of gas cards or copy paper , # 99 bright white , for flyers can be placed between the back doors .
