Jolivette is Coshocton Art Guild Artist of the Month
The Coshocton Art Guild Artist of the Month for May is Glen Jolivette II. His work is on display at the Tollhouse Art and Gifts in Historic Roscoe Village, 408 N. Whitewoman St., Coshocton. The shop is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a. m. to 5 p. m. and Sunday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m.
“ I use several mediums to create including acrylic paint, epoxy resin and wood,” Jolivette said.“ Much of what I create incorporates the use of CNC, lasers and various woodworking tools. Photography also is a vital part.”
He has a variety of pieces available for sale including acrylic paint pourings, resin art, CNC carved wooden objects, and laser engravings on wood and acrylic.
“ I have a passion for creating custom, one-ofa-kind pieces combining all the various techniques,” Jolivette said.“ I plan on producing items with nature as the theme. I plan on producing inspirational and religious pieces as well.”
As a child Jolivette enjoyed modeling with clay and sketching with crayons and pencils.
“ In grade school my happiest days were the days when we had art,” he said.“ Photography was my first real serious venture into the wonderful world of art. My adventure began in Vietnam when I acquired my first 35mm film camera. I was able to get some books about film processing and managed to put together the rudimentary equipment to be able to process and print black and white images, and I

was off on my adventure.”
Jolivette recently retired from the USPS after 34 years as a rural carrier. He is the father of two children. His daughter is 48, and his son is 35.
He studied photography and graphic arts at The Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale. After graduation Jolivette worked for a Pulitzer Prizewinning photographer in Coral Gables before he returned to Ohio. He started a photography business, mainly concentrating on commercial and industrial photography.
Later Jolivette began working at JII in the sales promotion department as a photographer and graphic and layout designer. He also taught beginning photography as an adult education class in the late‘ 80s.
“ My artistic style has evolved from taking pictures to making pictures, which I incorporate in many of my art projects,” Jolivette said.“ I only recently joined the art guild and enjoy the variety of talent and inspiration the members bring to the table. I appreciate the way the guild promotes the local artists to include providing a great venue to display and sell our art to the visiting public at the Toll House in Roscoe.”
