Ridgewood golf hosting fundraiser

Ridgewood Golf Boosters is sponsoring the 26th annual Rick and Bernie Fisher Memorial Golf Scramble on Saturday, June 14 at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette. The cost is $ 260 for a four-player team and includes green fees, cart and dinner. The 18-hole scramble will begin at 1 p. m. with a shotgun start.
The Rick and Bernie Fisher Memorial Golf Scramble is an annual fundraising event benefiting the Ridgewood Golf Boosters. In 2000 the high school’ s annual golf scramble was renamed as a tribute to the late Rick Fisher, a Ridgewood varsity golfer, local businessman and active Ridgewood Golf Booster who dedicated many hours to planning the event. In 2009 the event was renamed to also honor Rick’ s late wife Bernie Fisher, who supported the local community through her personal and business endeavors.
Proceeds from the event provide funding for the Ridgewood golf team’ s equipment, green fees and travel expenses during the season.
To enter a team or become an event sponsor, email Amy Lott at amylott824 @ gmail. com or call her at 740-294-0901. The registration deadline is Saturday, May 31.

Young artists share their talents

Aiden Braxton is not giving up on his dream of competing at the next level.
The 2024 Coshocton High School graduate recently competed at national indoor track and field meets. He placed first in the high jump at the Adidas Track Meet in Virginia Beach, Virginia and fifth at a meet in Boston, Massachusetts. At both meets he earned All-American honors by placing in the top six.
“ I was in college, but I wanted to get better and go to a Division I school,” Braxton said.“ Now I’ ve been able to talk to bigger schools. The competition at these was crazy. There were probably a couple thousand people there.”
Braxton is the son of Nichole and Stan Braxton of Coshocton. He competed in track during high school, where high jump was his favorite event.

Aiden Braxton, a 2024 Coshocton High School graduate, recently competed at national indoor track and field meets.
“ I think it’ s the hardest event in track, and that’ s really why I chose it,” he said.“ You have to jump high and run fast.”
He didn’ t start competing until his sophomore year of high school.
“ You have to stick with it,” Braxton said.“ I was told when I first started that high jump might not be for me, but I proved them wrong.” He travels to New Philadelphia for coaching and tries to eat well and have a good mindset. He also is helping the Ridgewood High School track team with its high jump practices and preparing for outdoor nationals.
Braxton’ s dream school is the University of North Carolina.
