By Jen Jones The Beacon
Open Space Event Center, located at 1148 Walnut St., will hold Kizy Flea Fests beginning Saturday, May 31 and continuing every Saturday in June.
David Martin, son of Katherine Martin, a 75- year resident of Coshocton, purchased the building last year while home celebrating his mom’ s 99th birthday.
“ She was excited I was moving home. We are gradually clearing the building out,” David Martin said.
The building is across from the Yucatan.

Martin said he has several other ideas and plans to hold youth events.
Behind the building is a large level lot, and this will be where the Kizy Flea
Fest will be. Arts and crafts vendors can rent a 10-by- 10 space for each Saturday.
“ We are trying to create some energy in the building and the community,” Martin said.“ There hasn’ t been a flea market here for a long time, and we are trying to see if people are open to having one again.”
The Kizy Flea Fest will have arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, a 50 / 50 raffle, a cornhole tournament and music. Having live music is something Martin hopes to hold in the future. He said he has been getting a lot of phone calls asking for more information about the event and has several vendors lined up already.
“ I am a singer / songwriter and have traveled all over the country the last 15 years, but Coshocton is home,” he said.“ I graduated from Coshocton High School in 1975, and I love Coshocton. I want to give the community something to do. The Kizy Flea Fests will be held from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m. to see how it goes. We might adjust times later if needed.”
All profits from the flea market will go to Kizy Entertainment Productions, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create events for the community.
