Speakers from Cleveland Browns to address graduates
By Josie Sellers
Two members of the Cleveland Browns organization are coming to Coshocton to share a message with members of the Class of 2023 and the community .
“ Life is such a journey ,” said Robert Brooks , chaplain for the Cleveland Browns . “ It ’ s full of potholes and speed bumps , but you can keep pressing on with the right mindset .”
Brooks has been an athlete and worked in athletic administration but soon discovered his passion was helping others see where they were in their faith journey and that they can have a relationship with God . He will share his story and his message during the baccalaureate service on Wednesday , May 24 at 7 p . m . at Coshocton High School in the auditorium .
Current Cleveland Browns player Jordan Kunaszyk will share the impact God has had on his life during the baccalaureate service on Sunday , May 21 at 7 p . m . at River View High School in the auditorium .
“ I ’ ll share with them what my life was like before Christ compared to now and his message of hope ,” he said . “ The world will throw a lot at you , but Jesus is the only way . It ’ s not just one verses or chapter from the Bible that transformed me but all of God ’ s word .”
Kunaszyk encourages people to connect with groups of like-minded people when it comes to building a relationship with God .
“ Seeing Brooks in the building and his smile is a light to me ,” Kunaszyk said . “ When he ’ s not here , everyone misses him ,
from the support staff to the players . He ’ s a role model for truly loving the Lord .”
Brooks said he encourages others to be intentional about their walk with the Lord .
“ You have to be humble and know you have a need for our Savior ,” he said . “ Work on growing in your own faith and be a light to others .”
Pastors in the community have worked on planning baccalaureate services for high school seniors since at least 1996 . The schools cannot make them mandatory to attend , but over the years , about 30 % of the soon-to-be graduates have attended .
Museum group to discuss clothing
Meet Me at the Museum will be held Tuesday , May 30 from noon to 1 p . m . at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum . Bring a lunch or get some snacks .
This month ’ s discussion will be on the Coshocton Footlight Players ’ play called “ Love , Loss and What I Wore ,” written by Nora and Delia Ephron , based on the book of the same title by Ilene Beckerman .
The characters in the play tell the stories of their lives through the clothes they wore . Do you remember your Scout uniform ? What you wore to the prom ? The boots you thought would get you a date ? Choose an item from your wardrobe time capsule or a memory if you no longer have the item
and bring it to share .
At least one of the cast members will attend for some backstage insight , and museum staff will pull out an outfit or two from the museum ’ s collection to share . For dates , times and tickets to the play , visit www . footlightplayers . com / shows .
No registration is needed . This program is offered at no charge and made possible with the support of the Joe R . Engle Museum Gallery Fund of the Coshocton Foundation .
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located in Historic Roscoe Village at 300 N . Whitewoman St . in Coshocton . Museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday
from noon to 4 p . m ., and all Sundays are free admission to Coshocton County residents .
