MFM Building Products honored with Excellence Award

Each year the members of Eastern Ohio Development Alliance sift through a host of nominations to which they present Excellence Awards , and the task is never an easy one because of the many quality companies and manufacturers throughout the EODA region .
This year a Coshocton company became the newest addition to the list of winners during the 33rd annual EODA meeting at Carlisle Inn in Walnut Creek on Friday , April 28 .
MFM Building Products was tabbed as the recipient of the Excellence Award for Small Manufacturer during the EODA meeting , having been nominated and presented by Tiffany Swigert , director of Coshocton Port Authority .
Jim Schoch , EODA executive director , said MFM Building Products has racked up an array of awards and honors and is proud to add this achievement to the list .
In making the presentation , Swigert said MFM Building Products has been a leader in the waterproofing and weather barrier product lines .
Founded in 1961 , MFM became an employeeowned employee stock ownership plan company in 2017 , providing ownership opportunity for 60 Coshocton area members .
In 2020 MFM experienced an opportunity for growth during the pandemic , committing to build a 48,000-square-foot warehouse , which included a new production line and redevelopment of their research center . It was an $ 8 million investment that pushed MFM into a new stratosphere , the commitment providing 21 new jobs in the Coshocton community .
“ We are thankful to MFM for their ongoing investment in Coshocton ,” Swigert said .
Accepting the honor on behalf of the MFM Building Products company was Paul Bratton , MFM fulfillment manager .
“ On behalf of MFM Building Products , it ’ s my pleasure to accept this EODA award ,” Bratton said .
Bratton thanked Swigert , the Coshocton County commissioners , the Coshocton County Career Center , Coshocton County School District , Marimarc Mills , Service Director Max Crown , Coshocton Chamber Director Amy Crown and others for the company ’ s growth and success .
Founded by Robert Simpson , MFM Building Products has been a manufacturer of a large variety of weather barrier products and accessory products for the construction industry . Its exterior , selfadhering waterproofing membranes provide solutions from the rooftop to the foundation for buildings . MFM products are available nationwide through a network of building product distributors , specialty building supply houses , lumberyards and more .
Bratton said the family-owned company began in 1961 by manufacturing pipe wrappings saturated in asphalt .
Over the years the company has experienced growth and success , and Bratton said the expectations are the company will continue that trend .
“ MFM continues to grow ,” Bratton said . “ We have more than 30 individual brand products , and a lot of those hold patent innovations .”
Bratton said being an employee-owned company encourages all employees to continue creating top-quality products .
“ We continue to research new and innovative products for the building industry ,” Bratton said .
The company ships globally to everywhere except Antarctica , but

Since 2009 the company has grown the business 220 %, something Bratton said is a direct reflection of all of the employees of MFM and the work they do .
