This gathering is free to attend and sponsored by Coshocton ’ s Town and Country Garden Club .
Goodell will present her research titled “ Documenting Ohio ’ s Bees to Secure Pollination Services into the Future .” Her work focuses on the interactions between plants and pollinators , with implications for native bee conservation , the restoration of degraded lands and sustainable agricultural practices . As the current leader of the Ohio Bee Survey , Goodell is dedicated to documenting the diversity and distributions of Ohio ’ s native bees , a step in ensuring effective pollination services for future generations .
The Coshocton Historical Club will begin its spring season with a PowerPoint program given by local historian Ken Smailes on the Triumphs and Tragedies of Our County . This event will take place Monday , March 10 at 1 p . m . in the fellowship hall of Roscoe United Methodist Church .
She has authored more than 40 original research articles in the fields of agricultural science , conservation and ecology . Her research has been funded by grants from the USDA , NSF , Department of Defense , the Ohio EPA , the Columbus Zoo and the Ohio Division of Wildlife .
This meeting presents an opportunity for community members , farmers , students and local stakeholders to learn about the role of pollinators in ecosystems .

Goodell has been a professor at Ohio State University at Newark since 2004 , where she teaches introductory biology to both majors and nonmajors , engages undergraduates in independent research , and
mentors graduate students . Her research investigates the interactions between plants and pollinators , emphasizing the importance of these relationships for biodiversity and agriculture .
Goodell is originally from Massachusetts and spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Costa Rica . She earned an MS in Botany and Plant Sciences from the University of California Riverside in 1995 , a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from SUNY Stony Brook in 2000 , and was a David H . Smith Conservation Research Postdoctoral Fellow at Rutgers University from 2000-03 .
Town & Country Garden Club is a member of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs # 643 , Region 8 . Meetings the second Thursday of the month are held in Coshocton .
