The Coshocton Art Guild ’ s June open mic night will be Monday , June 17 at the Coshocton Community Room , 637 Chestnut St ., Coshocton .

Local singers , songwriters , musicians , poets and comedians are invited to perform three songs or 15 minutes of material . This event is family friendly and free to attend and participate . Sign-up will begin at 4:45 p . m . Food is available by donation to support the Coshocton Art Guild .

Melissa Maxwell of Warsaw is the Artist of the Month for June . She creates photo-realistic flowers , painting each petal in transparent watercolor and oil .

“ There is something about their beauty that pulls me in and makes me want to linger ,” Maxwell said . “ I like capturing the moment in time when the sunlight passes through the petals . I hope to inspire others to see the subtle beauty in nature that often goes unnoticed .”

Maxwell is an active member of the Coshocton Art Guild , participating in art shows and contests and volunteering her time and talents to everything from face painting for kids at Clary Gardens to serving meals at the guild ’ s open mic nights .

wandering through The Tollhouse Art & Gifts in Roscoe Village . The gallery showcases local artists and provides an opportunity for guild members to show and sell pieces to tourists from around the world . The Tollhouse is a volunteer-run shop . Each artist is required to work one day each month . Maxwell not only creates pieces for the shop , but also serves as curator to the gallery .

“ To have a place for artists in our community to show and sell their artwork in a place like The Tollhouse is really special and important ,” Maxwell said . Maxwell ’ s artwork is

Bring your guitar and join local singer / songwriter Parsons for a music workshop focused on the basics of guitar care and maintenance , creating chords , and building songs .
