In honor of Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum will explore and celebrate the lives of five black residents of Coshocton who thrived in spite of difficult circumstances.
The presentation will begin with Letty Thomas, a formerly enslaved woman who became Coshocton’ s first black business owner, and will conclude with Lula Williams, a beloved community member who witnessed extraordinary changes over the
course of the century she lived in Coshocton. This program will be led by Lucy Bryan Malenke, co-founder of Coshoctonians for Peace and Equality; Abigail Callis, JHM archivist; and Holli Rainwater, JHM program coordinator.
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located in Historic Roscoe Village at 300 N. Whitewoman St. in Coshocton. Museum hours are noon to 4 p. m. daily, and all Sundays are free admission to Coshocton County residents.
