Wildlife Council reviews proposed waterfowl hunting zones

The Ohio Wildlife Council received a proposal for revised waterfowl hunting zones for the 2026-30 seasons from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife during the council’ s meeting Wednesday, April 30.
The current waterfowl zones will remain in effect through the 2025-26 duck and goose hunting seasons.
If approved, the proposed changes would take effect starting with the 2026-27 season.
Under the proposal, the state would continue to be divided into three zones. Zone A would cover Northwest Ohio, Zone B would include Northeast Ohio and portions of the northwest, and Zone C would encompass the rest of the state. The waters of
Lake Erie would fall within Zone B, and Zone A would extend 100 yards offshore into the lake. A detailed map and description of the proposed zones is available at www. wildohio. gov.
The proposed changes are based on feedback from waterfowl hunter surveys and developed within regulatory guidelines set by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Public comments on the proposed zones will be accepted online at www.
wildohio. gov Monday, June 9 through Wednesday, July 9. A statewide
hearing on the proposal is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16.
