Funeral home holds first responders lunch

Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home hosted its first responders cookout on July 21 .
“ We wanted to give back to first responders because they make a huge difference in our profession and help us out tremendously ,” said Jessica Paisley , manager . “ Everyone from the fire department , EMS , REACT , emergency services and the sheriff ’ s office is always helping us out . We wanted to do something to give back to those people . We had to stop for a year due to COVID , and

This is a yearly event , and the funeral home staff looks forward to doing it .
“ We tell people they can pick up a meal to go or stop by and eat with friends and co-workers here ,” Paisley said . “ A huge group of sheriff ’ s office employees were just here . It is a great event . Our entire staff at Given-Dawson-Paisley comes out , and we enjoy putting it on . We even have postal workers to florists

This year Farm Friday will be Aug . 4 from 5-7 p . m . on Main Street and Fourth Street in Coshocton . Immediately following Farm Friday will be Our Town Coshocton ’ s concert for August featuring a country music performer .
“ There will be farm animals and machinery for children to explore . Everything comes from local farmers . This year there are goats , steers , dairy cows and sheep . This event has always been geared towards educating the community about the importance of agriculture . I think that ’ s part of the reason why people are so eager to help with it ,” Bigelow said .
Besides animals and machinery , displays will be set up to help explain different aspects of agriculture . Children are encouraged to pick up a card from the soil and conservation tent and have it stamped at different they are the first ones to help all the funeral homes , not just ours .”

They box it up and generously donate it and get us taken care of so our staff can eat .”
Paisley said , “ It is a good thing to do for them . They don ’ t get recognized enough . It ’ s the least we can do .”

Food trucks will be at the Farm Friday too . “ This is just a fun and educational night ,” Bigelow said .
