John Francis Powell Jr ., age 90 , of West Lafayette , passed away on Sunday , January 12 , 2025 . He was born on May 18,1934 , to the late J . Frank and Helen Moore Powell .
He was a 1952 graduate of West Lafayette High School . After serving in the U . S . Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain from 1956 -1957 , he returned to the dairy farm which has been in the family since 1832 near Fresno .
He is survived by his wife Mary Edith ( Cunningham ) Meek Powell , whom he married on August 2 , 1957 . Also surviving are children Craig ( Lindy ) Powell , Fresno , Jan ( Greg ) Rice , Coshocton , and Brian ( Andrea ) Powell , Fresno . Grandchildren include Erika ( Chris ) Bowin , Ryan ( Caitlin ) Powell , Lauren Powell ( Austin Riddle ), Kelsey Powell , Julie ( Ben ) Liston , Melanie ( Joe ) France , John ( Stacie ) Rice , Cody ( Ashley ) Carnes and Anna ( Russell ) Sprague . Great Grandchildren Lydia , Ava , and Amelia Liston , Sawyer , Holden , Madelynn and Archie Bowin , Parker and Wesley Rice , Draven and Payton Riddle , Nora France , Leonardo Dutiel , and Kamryn Carnes ( arriving in March of 2025 ).
Margaret Jean ( Wisecup ) Riley passed away on November 29th , 2024 , at age 86 . She was born on May 20 , 1938 , in Kent , Ohio , raised in St . Albans WV , and made her way back to live in and around Coshocton County , Ohio for the past 30 years .
She was beloved by all who had the good fortune to know her and interact with her . Jean was a loving mother and

Also surviving is twin sister Betty Lovingood , Roanoke , Virginia .
Along with his parents , he was preceded in death by sister Amelia Powell .
John was a dairy farmer and in 1969 , he began as a substitute rural mail carrier and became full time in 1984 , retiring in 1998 . Farming continued to be his focus as he frequently helped his boys on their farms . His favorite saying when showing up to help was “ I needed to blow the stink off .” John also enjoyed his 1925 Ford Model T and 1950 Farmall H Tractor that was purchased new and was used for many years on the farm .

. He was a past advisor of White Eyes 4-H Club and a past member of Blue Ridge Grange . John was also a member of West Lafayette Rotary , and a lifelong member of the Fresno United Methodist Church .
Calling hours were held on Thursday , January 16 , 2025 , from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday , January 17 , 2025 . A funeral service was held on Friday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating . Burial followed at Fairfield Cemetery with the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors .
Memorial contributions may be made in John ’ s name to Fresno United Methodist Church .

She is survived by her son and three daughters : Carol Kent-Welch , Anna Johnson-Patzer , and Jodi ( Ric ) Kent-Underwood . She is also survived by her eight grandchildren : Travis Kent , Chase Welch , Tee Johnson , Jay Johnson , Tanna ( Josh Herrera ) Johnson , Micky Kent , Kayleigh Bowe , Gabby Patzer , and her two great grandchildren : Julianna “ Juju : and Ahlyis Herrera .
A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date .

Jeannie Renee Jacobs , age 54 , of Coshocton , passed away on Sunday , January 12 , 2025 . She was born on September 16 , 1970 , in Coshocton to the late Clarence Wright Jr . and Sherry ( Bryant ) Shivers .
On May 26 , 2001 , she married Robert “ Rob ” Jacobs who passed away on August 24 , 2020 .
Jeannie was an amazing mother , grandmother , sister , and daughter-in-law . She attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and worked at Hopewell Industries and on the weekends as an independent Home Health Aide . For 10 plus years , she worked at the Coshocton Senior Center , where she enjoyed making crafts , playing bingo , and exercising . She was a die-hard Steelers
Emma Jean Brown , age 97 , of Coshocton passed away peacefully at her home on Monday , January 13 , 2025 . She was born in Guernsey County on September 3rd , 1927 , to the late Bion and Blanche Larrick .
Jean was a 1945 graduate of Sarahsville High School , Sarahsville , Ohio . She then moved to Coshocton , Ohio and married Gerald W . Brown . He preceded her in death in 1989 . They have four surviving children : Debbie ( Bryce ) Sayre , Daniel ( Patricia ) Brown , Donna ( Tom ) Magness , and Dave ( Lisa ) Brown , all of Coshocton .
