Another taxpayer rip-off . At a price of zero ( to the users but not to us property taxpayers and renters ), there is no limit to the demand . Then why are we surprised the level of calls the EMS received in the last couple of years has increased dramatically ? Our local population has not increased by 25 %. But the EMS director wants us to pay more so he can increase 25 % from the present four crews to five .
Because of the flu season ? Flu is a disease , not an emergency . Tell those people , before they get worse , to go to the doctor or hospital
Lately , I have been thinking about four-letter words and how they seem to have made a resurgence in our everyday dialogue . Typically , these are words that can carry a negative connotation when used . I know as a kid Mom would wash my mouth out with soap if I got caught using the really bad ones . I think my friends and I thought the usage of fourletter words would grant us the appearance of being adult-like or wise beyond our years , but in reality it only reflected what we didn ’ t truly know about ourselves and others . Mom definitely conveyed the idea that it was both uncouth and immature to get stuck using four-letter words conversationally . The expectation was to grow your vocabulary beyond a fourth-grade education .
Four-letter words are simple to spell . Usually , they are made up of a vowel and three other letters of the alphabet . They only carry one syllable , making them easy to pronounce . With the simplicity in either their own car or their neighbor ’ s or pay to take a cab .
$ 807,000 annually for one crew in payroll ? Divided by seven persons per crew equals $ 115,000 per person . Are you receiving $ 115,000 in annual compensation ? No , and neither am I .
We never had EMS years ago , and somehow we managed to stay alive . Then
of pronunciation , you can affect anger by grunting or shouting them . If you add hand gestures to your speech , you can emphasize your outrage more emphatically .
If you do combinations of four-letter words , you can make your point not only clearly , but you don ’ t have to add an explanation . You can state your opinion clearly and concisely . Of course , the problem with all of this is it is not conducive to any form of conversation that leads to any sort of compromise and / or understanding . Basically , the conversation is closed off with nowhere to go .
So what words or combination of words am I talking about ? Obviously , the cuss words rise to the top of everyone ’ s mind . I suppose they have a place in everyone ’ s conversation from time

when it was first begun , there was no tax . Then they started to tax us — more “ bait and switch .” Then they began to raise our taxes , like boiling a frog in cool water and gradually raising the temperature , hoping we wouldn ’ t notice . But we are noticing .
The EMS director ’ s job is to make do with the resources he has , not continuously ask for a new building , which we just gave him , and now more people to fill it up .
The world of reality is we are a poor county , and we cannot afford to staff the

EMS to cover the worst possible situation . This is what could be done :
— Send only one crew to an incident . Have them prioritize if there is more than one person asking for services .
— Stay with four crews . If necessary , prioritize if there are more than four incidents .
— Do what the fire departments do when overwhelmed — call for assistance from a neighboring EMS .
— Reduce the crew size down to six people or , even better , five . Then we can to time in an effort to express dissatisfaction .
The words I am talking about , however , are those we learned in grade school shortly after learning words like cat , hat and sat . They and them being used to express somebody is different in a bad way rather than celebrating diversity as being a good thing . I ’ m as compassionate as the next person . But we taxpayers are tired of paying the bills for people who always have money to spend to abuse their bodies with drugs , but the only tax they ever pay is sales tax and we have to pay the rest .
Do we want to pay even higher property taxes or rent , which might increase if the levy passes ?
Then just vote against the tax levy on Issue 3 .
