CCCTA celebrates Ohio Loves Transit Week

Without the Coshocton County Coordinated Transportation Agency , Susan Babcock would be stuck .
“ I ’ ve been on both sides of the fence with owning my own vehicle and not ,” she said . “ I would be in a tough situation now without them . They are very good people to ride with and are responsible .”
Babcock also praised the organization for being punctual , which CCCTA director Valerie Shaw said is what they aim for . Shaw and mobility manager Tracy Haines road along with passengers throughout the week of Feb . 14-18 to celebrate Ohio Loves Transit Week .
“ We don ’ t get to get out with our clients a lot , so this gives us a reason to celebrate and talk to them about
why they ride and what they love about us ,” Shaw said . Shaw and Haines also passed

Both Haines and Shaw want the community to know CCCTA services are open to the general public and that trips within the county are currently free .
“ So many people don ’ t know that or that we run statewide ,” Shaw said . “ You might not need us right now , but you might have a parent or grandparent who does .”
CCCTA out-of-county rates are as follows : general public , 50 cents per mile ; jobs / school , 25 cents per mile ; and elderly / disabled , 25 cents per mile .
Ride requests can be made by calling the office at 740-622-7139 from 8 a . m . to 2 p . m . Monday through Friday . The following information will be needed when you call : date of the ride , appointment time , time your appointment will be over and you will be ready to come home , physical address , and name and phone number of destination you will be traveling to .
“ We ask for at least a 48 business hour notice , but if we can get to you , we will ,” Shaw said . “ We try to be very accommodating . We ’ ve been booked out for weeks , though , and crazy busy .”
Mileage and cost will be figured out before your scheduled pickup . There is a variety of funding sources to help cover the cost of rides . You must have exact change when paying .
Barbie Wiley started using CCCTA services when her car broke down and she couldn ’ t afford another one .
“ I ’ m well taken care of with them ,” she said . “ They are just so loving . It humbles a person .”
