Early Learner Resource Night is planned at CES
By Josie Sellers For The Beacon
Cari Weaver wants to connect families with resources to help make their children kindergarten ready .
To accomplish her goal , the Coshocton Elementary School preschool teacher is organizing an Early Learner Resource Night on Thursday , March 27 from 5-6:30 p . m . at the school . Attendees are asked to enter through the gym doors .
“ Our current kindergarten class has 22 students who didn ’ t attend anywhere prior to this year ,” Weaver said . “ The year before that , the number was 40 . Kindergartners need to know their sounds already and be ready to learn how to read . We need families to know that kindergarten isn ’ t playtime and taking
naps . We want to get more awareness out there that kids need to be attending somewhere , whether it ’ s preschool or child care .”
The resource night is open to families from the Coshocton School District who have 3- to 5-year-olds .
“ They will be able to learn and create preschooland kindergartenreadiness activities to take home .”
