City of Coshocton decides to give back to help park district
By Tara Gracyk
Coshocton City Council voted at its Dec . 14 meeting to return money donated this year by the park district .
Council members discussed how the park district donates every year to the
City of Coshocton and how this year the park donated $ 22,750 to the city from their levy proceeds . However , due to the aquatic center not opening this year because of COVID and the pavilion not being able to be used for events , the park district has suffered a loss of revenue .
The park district made a request for assistance from the CARES Act , but money from the CARES Act is unable to be utilized for revenue purposes . Therefore , city auditor Sherry Kirkpatrick submitted an appropriations request to council that would allow the City of Coshocton to return the park ’ s donation . While the donation does not cover the revenue the park has missed out on , it will be of some assistance to the park district .
The council members present were in full agreement and approved the appropriations request . The city will give back the park district its 2020 donation of $ 22,750 .
