Christmas spirit has arrived in West Lafayette
By Jessie Tubbs
The annual West Lafayette Christmas in the Village took place .
A brisk chill in the air made for a quick walk down Russell Avenue to the Methodist Church for the Lions Club breakfast . Pancakes , sausage , French toast and eggs were piled onto everyone ’ s plates with fresh OJ and coffee to drink .
This year the Blue Ridge 4-H group jumped in to help feed the crowds and wait tables with the Lions . Neighbors were visiting , telling Justin Troendly happy birthday and sharing stories about remember whens and did you knows .
Claire and Chloe Marquis , three-year 4-H members of Blue Ridge , offered seconds to customers and checked the roasters to make sure

The West Lafayette homecoming court helped Santa greet children .
they weren ’ t running low or out of pancakes . Claire Marquis said she liked volunteering , and Chloe Marquis said she enjoyed cooking . Tom Brill worked the griddle , and the batter maker was John Hardesty . The breakfast cost $ 10 , and it helped the Lions support the community .
Lions are known for helping with glasses . This group goes even further
with helping with Dollars for Scholars , church repairs , police and fire , Christmas Castle , Echoing Hills , and general community support .
They are always excited to add new members and meet the first Tuesday every month at Schumaker Farms at 6:15 p . m . Several of their members have been active for over 30 years .
Just a couple blocks
down the road was the Christmas in the Village craft show . Carol Wears has organized this shopping extravaganza for about 25 years with Club Aries . This event has been held the first Saturday in December for 30 years or more .
Ava Kulbacki had cocoa bombs , and Madelyn Klier and Bailey Smith made jewelry . They worked late nights at sleepovers to build up their inventory . Gnomes , red trucks and buffalo plaid decked the halls on vendors ’ tables throughout the school .
The fun continued at the library . Andrea Smith , the West Lafayette Branch librarian , welcomed guests , and the Friends of the Library representative offered cookies and hot chocolate . Kids collected make and take crafts
and learned about some upcoming events at the library .
The wind slowed and the sun peeked through the clouds for the parade lineup . David Rogers has managed that job for the past few years . People of all ages came out to cheer as firetrucks , floats and princesses appeared . The band was all wrapped up

After the parade Santa greeted kids of all ages at the Baptist Church , handed out some goodies , and heard what boys and girls like the Pigman children — Oliver , Alyessia , Finley and Seamus — and their mom Klarissa wanted for Christmas .
