THURSDAY , AUGUST 22 , 1974 The Coshocton Public Library will open this coming Monday in its new home . Found on Main and Seventh , the former post office building has been remodeled to serve as the library building . According to one of the librarians , Kenneth Tewell , the new building will play host to 15 employees and 75,000 books . Things are still being moved from the old library building on Fourth and Chestnut , but once the move is finished the building will be handed over to the city .
SUNDAY , AUGUST 26 , 1984 Coshocton native Sonia Rice has been selected as the new manager of the Roscoe Bakery . Rice is currently employed by the bakery , but previously worked in Buehler ’ s bakery for seven years . The Roscoe Bakery not only bakes for itself , but also serves the Old Warehouse , Captain Nye ’ s Sweet Shop as well as the Roscoe Village Inn set to open January next year .
FRIDAY , AUGUST 26 , 1994 The new school year isn ’ t just for the students , it is also a new school year for several new faculty members in the county . David Owen , a veteran educator whose resume includes K-8 principal for Tri-Valley , now serves as principal for Central Elementary . “ I was looking for a district that was very kids-oriented , wanted to concentrate on doing what ’ s best for kids , and had the philosophy that every child can learn , and should be provided with the best possible education ,” said Owen . Warsaw Elementary now sees Barbara Long serve as principal . Previously serving as head teacher at Clark Elementary in West Holmes , Long seeks to implement fresh education techniques . “ I definitely want parents and the community to feel welcome in thee school ,” said Long . Ridgewood has added a new counselor , Lena Crouso . Crouso initially taught , but after six years decided to focus on counseling instead . “ I just see so much potential in young people . I think the thing that interests me is that they ’ re searching , and they ’ re so eager and curious about their futures . I enjoy being a part of that ,” said Crouso .
SATURDAY , AUGUST 28 , 2004 Football season has started in Coshocton County . The Generals opened their season with a non-league away game that ended in a 20-14 victory over Shenandoah . Joe Shears scored two touchdowns and Wade Wright put in one himself . The Redskins and Black Bears faced off in their season opener in Coshocton , which ended in a 20-6 win for River View . Jay McFadden scored two touchdowns and John Ungaro scored one 69-yard touchdown , for Warsaw and his teammate Jay McFadden scored one himself , with extra points being scored by Ungaro . Jordan Foster scored Coshocton ’ s touchdown .
WEDNESDAY , AUGUST 27 , 2014 Coshocton Christian School was greeted by the face of a new principal ; however , he was only new for them . Stan Zurowski boasts a 40-year career in education . He began teaching in Dover back in 1969 , and he would come to Coshocton in 1985 . He would serve as principal for Lincoln and Central elementaries and the Coshocton Middle School . Zurowski would briefly retire before becoming principal of Hopewell in 2009 and until 2010 . “ As the students grow and graduate , I want them to have a sense of taking their Christian experience and to use that as they go out into the community and the world . We want them to take what they know and go out and do . I want to continue that kind of goal for the students ,” said Zurowski .
