SUNDAY , AUG . 22 , 1971 Instead of the familiar faces behind the wheels at Coshocton Speedway today , the cars will be driven by the people behind the wheels . Each car will be driven by its mechanic rather than its driver in a special additional race , although the regular events will still be held . FRIDAY , AUG . 21 , 1981 The date of the 125th anniversary of Baltic ’ s United Church of Christ has been announced . A special service and fete will be held on Aug . 30 . Founded in 1856 and run out of a carpenter shop , the church has had 14 ministers over its lifetime . Rev . Wilbur H . Stell will be leading the service . Additionally , an organ recital featuring the current organist and former organists will be held . A pamphlet detailing the churches history will be handed out at the service . MONDAY , AUG . 19 , 1991 “ The whole community was hit hard ,” said Warsaw ’ s Mayor Sarah Sue Wells . The village was hit by a strong wind storm Saturday , and the cleaning process has begun . “ I can ’ t say enough about the efforts of these people ,” Wells said . The people she was referring were the coordinators of the cleanup : Brent Thatcher , Lewis Ermin , Jeff Wells and Mike Snyder of the Walhonding Volunteer Fire Department and Marilyn Bucklew and Ann Gills . Trees and downed powerlines forced a number of streets to be closed SATURDAY , AUG . 25 , 2001 The 2001- ’ 02 football season kicked off Friday night . Ridgewood played the Indian Valley Braves and county rivals CHS , and River View faced off . The Redskins vs Black Bears game ended in a single point 14-13 win for the CHS team . Bryan Davis and Nick Corder both scored touchdowns , and Caleb Jones and Jimmy Watson scored extra points for the Redskins . Matt Carey and Judd Baker scored touchdowns for River View and Cody Gowins scored a field goal . The Generals faced the Braves on their home turf , but could not pull off a win , receiving a devastating 19-0 loss . WEDNESDAY , AUG . 24 , 2011 The 144th annual G . A . R . Bean Dinner was held in Newcastle on the 21st . Phyllis Young of Millersburg was crowned the Bean Queen . Established by Union veterans following the Civil War , the dinner brings people from all over Ohio to the township . Everett Beatty , president of McElwee Park committee , where the event is held , said “ It was a good year . We had a nice crowd , and everyone enjoyed themselves . We made some money that will go into the park fund . Thanks to everyone that helped make this year ’ s bean dinner a success .”
