Prindle to showcase work at Foothills Gallery
By Marianne Austin
If you’re going to miss
viewing local artwork usually
displayed in the art
hall at the county fair, a
great alternative is Foothills
Gallery in Roscoe Village.
They have some amazing
art on display, all turned
out by local artists.
“It is a working studio,
and someone is usually
painting down there. You’ll
find many different venues,”
said Shara Prindle,
featured artist of the month
for August at the gallery.
Prindle has 13 pieces
on display including landscapes,
oils, acrylics, pen
and ink drawings, and
watercolor. “We want to let
the community know that
our art is still out there and
still for sale since we aren’t
allowed to do any events
right now,” she said.
Prindle is well known as
proprietor of the The Frame
Shop, a business she has
owned and operated for 26
years. “This has been the
best year ever as far as business
goes with orders for
framing, et cetera. I give
God the glory for that. I
have tons of orders, and I am
going to work. I have orders
to fill and bills to pay. God
takes care of us,” she said.
Prindle remembers
developing a love of art
when she was age 4 or 5
and her grandmother gave
her a pencil and paper to
draw as a means to keep
her occupied in church at
the Salvation Army. At 10
years old she received a
drawing kit and taught herself
to draw. “Art is essential

us sane,” she said.
During Prindle’s teenage
years in high school, she
took instruction from selftaught
artist Jon Gnagy and
Bob Ross. “Another good
instructor is Jerry Yarnell.
If you know his style, you
can see that in my work,”
she said, “for example,
the painting of a mill I saw
in Virginia. Sometimes I
work from my photos.’’
Prindle takes a lot of
photographs wherever she
goes, she said.
“Like anything, you have
to practice making it right.
You paint what you see, and
not everyone sees the same
thing. I like peaceful paintings,”
Prindle said.
You can see that tranquility
in her paintings of landscapes.
She also does commission
work. Her paintings
are displayed at Rust Decor
and in the dining room of
the Elks Lodge as well.
The Foothills Gallery is
located right behind Roscoe
General Store on the
canal level in Roscoe Village.
Hours are Thursday
through Sunday from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. All of the artists
at the gallery are members
of Coshocton County
Artist Collective. Prindle’s
work will be on display
through Friday, Sept. 4.

Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices truly believes “We’re in This
Together,” with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic. The prevention
department of CBHC thinks about wellness regularly, and when
they received funds to remind the community about the dangers of
gambling, they decided to get the message across through labels
on hand sanitizer bottles that people use daily. They delivered boxes
of pocket-sized hand sanitizer to various public entities including
libraries, doctor offices, JFS, the sheriff’s office, the senior center
and many others. In the picture, Capt. Dean Hettinger of the Coshocton
County Sheriff’s Office is giving a “thumbs up” upon receiving a
box of sanitizer from Natalie Burrell, preventionist with CBHC.
