Skids of wood shavings will be awarded as door prizes during the event . All attendees will receive a ticket to enter the prize drawing — and they will get additional tickets with each $ 500 in-store purchase . First prize will be two skids of shavings . Second prize will be one skid .

Gregory Log & Lumber supplies ethically sourced Ohio white pine and building supplies to do-it-yourselfers and professional contractors .

“ We work to ensure customers ’ projects are completed efficiently ,” Yoder said . “ We mill high quality lumber to customers ’ specifications , or we have the right products for them that are ready to install .”

Yoder , who in 1999 was a young mechanic eager to make his mark , was involved with Gregory Log & Lumber “ from the get-go ,” he said .

“ John wanted something to do in his retirement , and he hired me as a mechanic , wanting to rebuild mills and sell

them ,” he explained . “ After we got the first one rebuilt , John decided to buy some land , set up the business and it went from there . It became a full-time endeavor .”

When Gregory passed in May 2006 , Yoder took over the business and has continued to honor the founder ’ s legacy , he said . Starting with two men , Gregory Log & Lumber has grown to 20 employees and thousands of customers from around the country .

The keys to the company ’ s success over 23 years , Yoder revealed , have been “ dedicated employees , quality products , service .”

“ We are solely a white pine operation ,” Yoder emphasized . “ It ’ s our specialty . We have the saw mills , dry kilns and our retail operation . We work the lumber from start to finish . We do a lot of beams , a lot of log siding , cabin material and timber framing .”

Yoder said Gregory chose to specialize in white pine because of its unique properties .

“ It has a beautiful appearance ,” he said . “ The rustic look is very popular and white pine offers that look with the knots and the nice character of the wood . It ’ s strong , but it ’ s light and really easy to work with . There aren ’ t a lot of mills in the area that do white pine .”

Because Ohio white pine requires only a minimal protective stain , its natural look can be retained , he added .

Showroom products include sliding barn doors , tongue-andgroove siding and flooring , shiplap siding , log siding , S4S shelving boards , D-logs and rough-cut lumber .

“ We offer everything from single pieces up to semi-loads ,” Yoder said .

He said the community ’ s support has been vital in the company ’ s growth .

“ We have grown mostly by word of mouth , and I want to thank the people of our community for their support over the years ,” he said .
