River View PTO moms help with the playgrounds
By Marianne Austin
River View PTO moms are pitching in to help get playgrounds ready for the first day of school until the new equipment arrives . Working at both the elementary and intermediate school , moms Amber Latham , Gail Gallwitz , Cara Renner and their children volunteered to help clean up around the schools and work on the playgrounds .
“ This is the first day , and I think we may have to do another day to be able to get the elementary school too ,” Latham said . “ We are doing the intermediate and elementary schools . We redid the flower beds and put mulch in , and now we

are painting games on the asphalt . We have four-square , the copycat game , hopscotch . We got new soccer nets to put out , and new basketball hoops will be coming in . We volunteered our time to come and do this . They knew they were going to have soccer and the basketballs of course , but this stuff was all us .”
“ We are excited for new beginnings ,” Gallwitz said . “ We ’ ve got older school buildings , but I think it still is an exciting time for our school district . We can spruce things up and come together and see all the positives that we have . They can share resources ; they can all use the same tips and tricks to help our kids , and I think that is wonderful .

want to make it as nice as we can . We are very grateful for all the work our employees and staff have done . The idea of moving everything — furniture and things — from the buildings to another building , moving things from Warsaw to here , and the construction projects we have going on to get them ready to move in so we can have an open house and start school is a huge endeavor . I am glad to do whatever we can because they don ’ t have time to do it .”
Kensie Renner was
painting at the playground . She will be in third grade this fall . She is looking forward to the new teachers , she said . Caden Renner and Clayton Latham were painting and helping as well . Kyleigh Gallwitz said she likes to paint . “ I like to help ,” she said .
Superintendent Chuck Rinkes said , “ We appreciate our PTO stepping up to help us get through this transition to start school , providing some activities , especially for our intermediate kids as our new playground is not built yet . It gives them some activities until we get that equipment built later in October . Any opportunity that our PTO can provide for our students , we greatly appreciate .”
