Free bowling clinic offered to area youth

Legacy Lanes will host a free bowling clinic for new and experienced youth bowlers age 7-17 on Saturday , Aug . 10 from 10 a . m . to 2 p . m .
“ It ’ s National Bowling Day , and there is no better way to celebrate than to bring the future of bowling in ,” said Steve Gentile , manager .
Sign-in will be from 9:30-9:55 a . m ., and instructional time will be from 10- 11:45 a . m . Six coaches have volunteered to help attendees learn the fundamentals of the game .
“ They are either high school or USBC coaches ,” Gentile said . “ They will learn things like the proper way to hold balls and throw them so no one gets hurt , and they hit pins .”
A lunch break will be taken from 11:45 a . m . to 12:15 p . m ., and then coaches will break the kids up into beginner , intermediate and advance groups for some bowling . The clinic will wrap up from 1:45-2 p . m .
“ Hopefully , they all learn something and enjoy it so much that they want to join our youth leagues ,” Gentile said . “ Bowling is the second largest growing sport in the U . S . It ’ s a sport that pretty much anyone can do too . We want people in the community to know that bowling is available for the kids .”
Youth league sign-ups will be Sept . 7 , and bowling
On Thursday , July 25 , the River Greens Ladies League played with three clubs and a putter .
The winner in A-flight was Mardella Rice , and the B-flight winner was Helen will take place at 10 a . m . on Saturdays . The cost is $ 10 a week , and that includes games , shoes and ball .
“ It ’ s great to see the kids bowling ,” said Jeff Oswald , who owns Legacy Lanes with his wife Sue . “ When the kids bowl , they always have big smiles on their faces . They get better each week .”

“ We will take walk-ins , but we ’ d like to have an idea of how many are coming so we know if we need to contact more coaches ,” Gentile said . “ We ’ d love to see as many kids as possible come experience bowling and learn about the game .”
Legacy Lanes is located at 507 S . Second St . in Coshocton .

Scholfield . Those who had low scores under 50 were Rice with 42 , Connie Lahna with 43 , Becky Pittis and Bonnie Ramshaw with 44 , Rhonda Barlan with 45 , and Deb Bucklew with 49 .
