as trust and business development officer . In this position , Evan works with employers and employees to set up or service employer sponsored qualified retirement plans , such as 401K or 403B Plans . He works with small and large businesses alike , as well as non-profit organizations . Much of what he does is “ to go out to employers ’ workplace and educate employees on retirement plans and how to take advantage of the benefits .” He relates personal experience when able and considers it the “ fun part of the job .” Evan enjoys working with people ; the travel involved and getting out of the office .
When he isn ’ t serving the banking community , Evan serves on the River View Local School District Board of Education ;
Evan has a lot of optimism about the strength of the county but stresses the need for people to get involved .
volunteers for the River View Community Park Board and is vice-president for the Coshocton Chamber of Commerce . You will also find Evan at Kid ’ s America , where he is cheering on his daughter ’ s JO Volleyball team or somewhere on a softball field .
Evan had “ wanted to participate in Leadership Coshocton for a few years ” and alumnus Todd Brown had nominated him several times . His sister-in-law Tana Fischer had participated as well and had told him of the program , but schedule conflicts prohibited him from attending . In his words , “ 2023 was the year . I had always wanted to do it , and even though I lived here my whole life , I couldn ’ t explain to others about the community where I had come from . Growing up , I took the community for granted but now I want to know ‘ What is that business ? What do they do ? What makes Coshocton unique ?’ I want to be able to sell it better and explain why you would want to raise a family here .” Through participating in Leadership Coshocton , Evan wants to “ grow professionally and personally ; to build on his leadership skills and become a better employee ; husband , father and community member .” He wants to “ build on traits that will transfer back to his job and become a better person .” His employer “ supports community involvement - it fits in their mission and vision statements - and they see a return on investment in employee participation . They encourage employees to get involved in their communities .”
When asked his view of the community , Evan said , “ I ’ m not an ‘ urbanite .’ I lived in Columbus and Canton , and I didn ’ t like the traffic ; parking ; etc . It was all very stressful . I prefer small-town living and a slower-paced lifestyle where I know everyone . I wanted to raise my family here in a small community . My wife and I appreciate the small classrooms in the schools that encourage lifetime friendships . We both grew up here ; spent some time in cities but prefer the small-town community .”
Evan has a lot of optimism about the strength of the county but stresses the need for people to get involved . Growing up , he was exposed to his family working in the public sector or service roles - whether village council ; mayor ; county commissioner or involved with service clubs . This foundation of service sets the stage for his desire for others to “ get involved ; give back and invest in the community .” Evan said , “ I ’ ve seen more progress in the last five years than 30 .
As a community , people get hung up on what we don ’ t have or what we used to have rather than what we do have and are improving - new businesses ; development ; improvements . It takes community support .” He finished by pointing out , “ The Intel project adds potential opportunities . I ’ m excited for the next 15 years .”
Like others , Evan would recommend Leadership Coshocton for others . “ It ’ s not an overwhelming time commitment ,” he said . “ One day per month and you get exposure to everything the county has to offer . Whether you grew up here or just moved here , you learn more about the community . It ’ s a great way to network and learn how to give back . The personal development piece makes me a better employee , person , and community member .”
