The Coshocton County Board of Developmental Disabilities held its 31st annual Student Track and Field Day at Kids America on March 27.

CCBDD Director of Recreation & Special Olympics Toby Collins said,“ We have students from all three of our Coshocton County schools and also Newcomerstown. They are all in special education classrooms. It is a day for them to come and have fun and win some ribbons.”
Jalen Berry opened the event singing the national anthem, followed by the parade of athletes. The day’ s challenges included a basketball hoop shoot, cornhole, football toss, soccer and track events.
Wendy Croy, intervention specialist at Ridgewood Middle School and part of the leadership team for Coshocton Special Olympics, said the students would be paired with other students from all three of the county schools. They will receive ribbons for the events, and each student would receive a lanyard, a pin and lunch. Lunch included pizza and chocolate chip cookies.
“ They also have chalk events, games, inflatables including a slide and a bounce house, and face painting,” Croy said.“ It’ s a great day for kids and our county board. Toby Collins and

Beverly Lane attended the event with family and friends to watch her grandson Jayce compete.
“ I loved the events at Kids America, and I love watching all the contestants in the events, and I also love the volunteers that help with the events,” she said.“ I want to thank the volunteers for everything they did and all their help. Jayce had a ball. He really enjoyed himself, and all the kids that I knew there had a blast.”
