Clary Gardens invites kids to come together for summer
Clary Gardens will offer the All Together Now summer program . Children will explore a variety of nature topics and work together to plant a garden . They also will learn about how nature works together , using a few Disney themes along the way .
Thanks to a gift from the Coshocton Foundation , Midwest Falconry will return with two educational performances with their birds of prey , both open to the public and free . Also new to the program , Coshocton Jr . Woman ’ s Club has funded an interactive presentation for the kids by Mark Berman , aka “ The Bugman .”
The Coshocton Art Guild will assist staff during Pollinator Week to help the kids do some artistic color exploration ; flower color and brightness is very important to pollinators . In addition to these events , each week will consist of a small group activity and large group activity showing children how to explore the natural world .
This eight-week nature series will start May 30 and run every Tuesday through July 18 . There will be no class on July 4 . There will be two age groups : 4-7 and 8-12 . Age group 4-7 will meet at 9:30 a . m . for small group exploration with the large group activity starting at 10 a . m ., and age group 8-12 will arrive at 10 a . m . and start large group activity followed by small group exploration . The younger age group will be done at 10:30 a . m ., and the older group will be done at 11 a . m . Children will be encouraged to participate in handson digging , creeking and exploring , so play clothes are recommended .
The schedule of events
is as follows : — Registration will begin Monday , May 1 .
— Classes will run from 9:30-10:30 a . m . for pre-k to second grade and from 10-11 a . m . for third grade and up ( 10-10:30 a . m . is an overlap activity ).
— Classes are $ 1 per child / class .
— May 30 : Welcome to Rabbit ’ s Garden , planting new raised beds .
— June 6 : Coshocton Rocks ! ( Ohio Geology and Cave Exploration ).
— June 13 : Birds of
Prey ( Midwest Falconry Demonstration ). This is a time change of noon . There is no class cap . Shows will be at noon and 2 p . m .
— June 20 : Hear from guest speaker Mark Berman . Due to space and time restrictions , this class is limited to 30 students .
— June 27 : Flower , Bambi and Friends ( nocturnal / crepuscular animals ). — July 4 : No class . — July 11 : A Bug ’ s Life Pollinators and Other Bug Friends with help from the Coshocton Art Guild .
— July 19 : The Princess and the Frog celebration day , a close-up learning experience with frogs with no class cap .
