Children can explore nature at Clary Gardens program

This summer Clary Gardens will be“ Exploring the Colors of Nature” through its summer children’ s program, in partnership with the Coshocton District Library, Historic Roscoe Village, Johnson- Humrickhouse Museum and The Pomerene Center of the Arts.
The Clary Gardens summer series will focus on nature and outdoor education. Staff will host two classes on Tuesdays, starting May 27. The first class, for children age 5-8, will run from 9:30-10:30 a. m. The second class, for children over age 9, will take place from 10-11
a. m. There is a 30-minute overlap dedicated to a large group activity. Each class costs $ 1 per child. Parents and guardians are encouraged to enroll their children early due to the limited spots available in each class.
Enrollment began April 15 for Clary Gardens members and opens to the public on Thursday, May 1.
Throughout the summer, participants will explore the woodlands and creek area, encounter green frogs up close, discover various colorful rocks and their formations, and learn about pollinators and the range of colors they perceive and more. The vegetable garden planting on May 27 marks the beginning of an interactive season. Children will not only help plant, but also will track the growth of their crops, learning about the science and patience involved in gardening and enjoying the bounty. One of the highlights

Your of the summer series is the return of Midwest Falconry. These presentations offer a chance to witness birds of prey in action and learn about their roles in the ecosystem. Last year’ s falconry shows drew large crowds, and this year’ s events are expected to be equally popular. There will be two shows Tuesday, June 3 at noon and 2 p. m. These

exhibitions also are free to the public.
Clary Gardens’ annual programs provide an opportunity for children to connect with nature, develop an appreciation for the environment, and gain hands-on experience in gardening and wildlife observation. The program aims to foster curiosity and a lifelong passion for protecting natural habitats.
Throughout the summer, visitors to Clary Gardens can discover the biodiversity in the area.
