A downtown mural project honoring the late Jeffery Scott Grier, a Coshocton native and renowned Madison High School art teacher, is underway, and the community is invited to support this tribute.
Grier, known for his iconic artwork,“ I’ ll Take It From Here,” which has been seen by millions worldwide, will be remembered with a mural depicting his famous 9 / 11 tribute.
The project was inspired by Bob Jones, a 93-yearold WWII veteran, and Mike Meyers, who were both close to Grier. Grier had taken Jones to the Pentagon when“ I’ ll Take It
MEET EVIE
Say hello to Evie! This sweet girl is about one year old and will be ready for her forever home in mid- May after her spay surgery. Evie needs someone who will be a little patient as she adjusts. She’ s very friendly but a bit shy at first. If you have some quiet time to spend with her, she’ ll end up being your new bestie in no time. Evie does fine with other cats, and we think she’ d get along great with a calm dog too. Contact us to meet Evie: coshoctoncountyhumane @ gmail. com.

From Here” was presented. The two friends, along with Cliff Miller, a high school friend of Grier, began organizing the project. Miller enlisted the help of his sister-in-law Michelle Turner, a city council at large member, to spread the word and raise funds.
Donations can be dropped off at Dean’ s Jewelry and Park National Bank. Checks should be made payable to Our Town Coshocton, with“ mural” written in the memo. All donations will go directly toward completing the mural project. The total cost is estimated at just under $ 20,000, and the community’ s help is needed to make this vision a reality. To date the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 182 has donated $ 2,000, and there is an individual donation of $ 120.
The mural will depict“ I’ ll Take It From Here,” Grier’ s tribute to American heroes after the Sept. 11 attacks. The image shows

This artwork has been a source of inspiration for military personnel and first responders across the country and is currently displayed at the Pentagon and the 9 / 11 Memorial Museum in New York City.
Local artist and Coshocton High School art teacher John Miller will lead the mural’ s painting, with Varns Sandblasting prepping the wall and Stewart Interiors granting permission for the mural’ s location. The project will take several phases including power washing, repainting the brick, priming, painting and ongoing maintenance.
Born Nov. 1, 1969, and passing Feb. 15, 2018, Grier left a lasting legacy with his artwork.“ I’ ll Take It From Here” has not only raised over $ 15,000 for military charities, but also continues to inspire and be displayed in countless offices and military installations worldwide.
