Grace UMC chefs serve up chili for cook-off fundraiser
Grace United Methodist Church announced the success of its recent chili cook-off fundraiser, which took place March 30 at its temporary location at 142 N. Fourth St. An amount of more than $ 1,100 was raised to help furnish the church’ s future kitchen at the
renovated 422 Walnut St. location.
The event featured 10 local chefs, all members of the congregation who donated their time and culinary talents to support the fundraising goal. Attendees had the opportunity to sample an array of chili recipes, each showcasing the flavors and creativity of the participating chefs, who also served the chili.
“ The overwhelming support from our chefs, congregation and community members has been truly inspiring,” said Rev. Deb Quillen, pastor at the church.“ These
funds will directly benefit the furnishing of our new kitchen, which in turn benefits our community through our local outreach programs including our monthly community dinners. The church’ s long-standing building was devastated by a fire in 2022 and is presently undergoing a major renovation.”
Bragging rights for first place went to Craig
Myers. Second place was Jim Elliott, and Zach Bush and assistant Benji took third place.
