Our very first Blue Star Mothers of Maricopa interview was with their charter president, Tracy Davis. Along with fellow Blue Star Mom, Lisa Durst, they brought the organization to Maricopa, and it is also the only chapter in Pinal County. In this interview, Jenny talked to Tracy about her sailor, MM2 (SW), Blane Davis, and making it through each day knowing one’s child is in harm’s way. We were there for Blane’s reception party at Raceway Bar and Grill, just in time for Mother’s Day. Currently stationed in Guam, Blane recently received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. For HMTV, Macayla sat down with Blue Star Mom, Liz Salinas to talk about her son Nick who was seving as a Captain, US Army Special Forces in Afghanistan. Since the interview Nick finished his deployment in Afghanistan, and was able to spend some time back here in the States, even stopping for a visit in the Copa. Now, Liz asks for your prayers as Nick has been deployed again back to the Middle East. Blue Star Mom, Lisa Durst sat down with us, and was able to bring her son Bryan Schmid, who is now a Sargent in the U.S. Army. We found out Bryan’s first stop in Arizona is always In-N-Out and he is down with the Force. We have been fortunate to even have Bryan participate in our recent Ice Water Challenge with the candidates running for City Council. He is currently stationed in Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Original HMTV cub reporter, Reyvin Weaver sat down in an intriguing interview with his own father, 25-year Marine Veteran, Hank Weaver, now retired. Hank talks about his life in the military, and as a single father during the times he was stationed overseas. Reyvin just graduated from Maricopa High School and plans to follow in his father’s footsteps and has enlisted in the Marine Corp. He leaves for basic training.
