Letter from Leadership

During the virtual Celebrating Women event , Dr . Oz was asked if he ’ d experienced any “ silver linings ” of the COVID-19 pandemic . It got me thinking about the past 12 months and the unbelievable accomplishments and extraordinary efforts demonstrated throughout an incredibly challenging year . I enter this holiday season with heartfelt gratitude . I ’ m thankful for the selflessness of our team members , who compassionately care for our patients and their families . I ’ m thankful for the generosity of our donors , for continuing to give back in support of our System — better equipping us to care for future patients who may test positive for COVID-19 , be faced with a breast cancer diagnosis or be in need of a lifesaving transplant . I ’ m thankful for the ingenuity of our teams , who reexamined , reimagined and constantly pivoted to overcome challenges throughout the year . I ’ m thankful for the diligence of our communities , who are being asked to stand strong in the face of pandemic fatigue and continue masking , hand hygiene and physical distancing in an effort to slow the spread and keep themselves and others safe . And I ’ m thankful for the love and blessing of family and friends , who despite canceled plans and physical distancing , provided laughter and love and lifted spirits each and every day .
I am filled with gratitude for each of these silver linings , and equally excited about where we ’ re headed in 2021 . I ’ m excited about recent news from several companies that are making great headway in the development of a COVID-19 vaccine , as well as the steps our System has taken to ensure we are
prepared to receive and distribute a vaccine once one is available . I ’ m excited about new and expanded affiliations with esteemed institutions that educate and train the next generation of medical professionals to care for our families and communities . I ’ m excited about welcoming a new leader of the Foundation , who will build on the legacy of the Foundation , deepen meaningful relationships across North Texas and advance our mission to promote the well-being of all individuals , families and communities .
I hope your year-end reflections are equally filled with gratitude and excitement for what awaits us in 2021 .
Wishing you and your loved ones a holiday season of health and happiness .
