Building on our 40-year collaboration with Texas A & M Health
Our four-decade relationship with Texas A & M Health has included thousands of Texas A & M students delivering highquality care at our medical centers in Temple and Dallas . Our medical team members serve as faculty and researchers for the university , and our work together has resulted in countless ways we have changed healthcare for the better .
The expanded affiliation includes a major expansion of the Texas A & M Health Dallas campus , further growing the university ’ s presence at Baylor University Medical Center . Over the next three years , we will leverage our strengths to expand the program to provide an exceptional learning environment , building on the more than 200 medical students who train at our facilities today . A majority of these students will train at the Dallas campus , making it the largest regional medical campus for Texas A & M . The Texas A & M College of Medicine also has campuses in Bryan / College Station , Houston and Austin / Round Rock .
Additionally , we will explore the development of a new physician assistant program , grow the impact and geographic reach of the collaboration across our collective markets and evaluate opportunities for the development of interprofessional training .
Establishing a new Baylor College of Medicine regional medical school campus in Temple
We are also entering into a new 20-year affiliation with Baylor College of Medicine that will be anchored by the development of a progressive regional medical school campus in Temple , as well as Systemwide opportunities for expanded research and program development .
Baylor College of Medicine is one of the most prominent medical schools in the country . U . S . News and World Report ranks it as the No . 1 medical school in Texas and it holds national rankings in primary care ( No . 4 ) and research ( No . 22 ).
An inaugural class of 40 medical students is anticipated to begin training in Temple during the fall of 2023 , and the campus will ramp up to a student body of approximately 160 students over four years . This new regional medical school campus will expand Baylor College of Medicine ’ s total enrollment from 186 to 226 students per class , growing the physician workforce pipeline for Texas and expanding opportunities for clinical research and innovation .
