Beyond the Bag 2022

espite the disruptions created by various waves of COVID-19 over the past year , the services of the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center have continued to be necessary . Patient and family members still need somewhere to turn for education , counseling , and comfort . Through the generosity of our donors , the Center ’ s nurses and lay navigators continued to meet , navigate , and support patients , both virtually and in-person , walking with them through their cancer journey .
COVID-19 didn ’ t stop the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center from providing hope to patients and families . For this reason , the Foundation and the Beyond the Bag volunteer planning committee were even more motivated to continue moving forward on creative ways to raise money for the Center .
The Saturday , January 22 , 2022 , Beyond the Bag silent auction and Lexus Raffle raised an astounding $ 325,000 to support the non-medical services provided through the Center .
Thank you to our presenting sponsors , BoomerJack ’ s Grill and the Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus Dealers Association , for continuing to believe in and support the mission of the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center . Since 2011 , BoomerJack ’ s Grill has donated over $ 460,000 to support the work of the Center through their annual

Sharing hope & comfort

Zeta Tau Alpha ’ s national philanthropic priority is breast cancer education and awareness . In addition to supporting their national cause , the Texas Christian University chapter of ZTA also gives back to the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center .
In February , the ladies of ZTA presented a check to the Center from the proceeds of their annual White Violet Gala . The chapter also created and donated “ comfort kits ,” small bags of items such as lip balm , lotion , reading materials , and socks , for patients who are receiving chemotherapy .
Thank you ZTA ! We appreciate your support and the opportunity to partner with you to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone .
