SPECIAL EVENT
Inspiring Hearts with Hope

Beyond the Bag

with generous support from

Over $ 358,000 was raised at this year ’ s 12th annual Beyond the Bag

fter a two-year hiatus , our signature event , Beyond the Bag , benefiting the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center , returned inperson on January 21 . The festive evening , held at the Champion ’ s Club at TCU ’ s Amon G . Carter Stadium , featured dinner , live entertainment , and high-caliber silent and live auction items . This year ’ s event exceeded attendance and fundraising goals , inspiring hearts with hope .
We enjoyed celebrating our presenting sponsors , BoomerJack ’ s Grill and the Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus Dealers Association , which both achieved monumental milestones with this year ’ s event . Since 2011 , BoomerJack ’ s Grill has generously donated more than $ 500,000 to support the work of the Center through their annual golf tournament . Likewise , the Dallas Fort Worth Lexus Dealers have donated a new Lexus to be raffled off each year of Beyond the Bag , raising a 12-year cumulative total of more than $ 1 million dollars through Lexus raffle ticket sales .
We extend a sincere thank you to all of our sponsors and donors for their generous contributions and for setting the bar on how to go beyond what ’ s possible . We also thank Honorary Chair Mary Lowe , Event Chairs Debbie Hyde and Molly Snyder , and Event Advisor Joan Katz for their continuing leadership and guidance throughout the planning process .
This year ’ s record-high event proceeds of $ 358,000 will support the addition of an animal-assisted therapy program to the continuum of services offered at the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center . Proven to reduce stress , motivate and inspire patients , the unconditional love and attention of an expertly trained dog will partner with individuals diagnosed with cancer into survivorship . In addition to the new animal-assisted therapy program that will begin in 2023 , the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center offers a range of services , including patient navigation , education , genetic testing , patient support groups , nutritional and wellness support , and 24-hour access to emotional support . The Center relies on the support of volunteers , many of whom are cancer survivors , to provide hope and support to cancer patients and their families .
If you or someone you know is diagnosed with cancer , call the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center at 817.922.2223 .
We look forward to the 13th Annual Beyond the Bag , so stay tuned for updates !
