Since resuming the academic year, volunteers from the World Association for Disaster & Emergency Medicine (WADEM) have been helping our community at the York County COVID-19 testing site. Volunteers have signed up for numerous time slots to aid the site with directing traffic, collecting personal information from patients and delivering results.

The staff from York Hospital has been extremely grateful with all of the help received from UNE COM, especially since their staff has been so limited. Volunteers have described the experience as 'rewarding', 'well-organized' and a great way to give back to the local community.

In the words of Julia Sanzone, COM ‘24, "It is so important to be able to serve the community amid a pandemic and contribute to the restoration of normalcy and distribution

of resources. I feel very fortunate to have been able to deliver good news to every patient I saw today and to be able to gain an appreciation of the amount of effort that goes into running a drive thru clinic."

The testing site is still up and running and continuously looking for more volunteers.
