PAIN MEDICINE
"Evaluation of Using the Sphygmomanometer Test to Assess Pain Sensitivity in Chronic Pain Patients vs Normal Controls" was recently published in the journal, Pain Medicine.
In collaboration with Ling Cao, MD, from the University of New England, and Dr. Stephen Hull, from the Mercy Pain Center in Portland, ME, this project featured three class years of UNE COM alumni/students: Dr. Kyle Draleau and Dr. Daniel Sigalovsky (DO ‘19), Dr. Ross Heinrich and Dr. David Shbeeb (DO ‘20), Seth Butler and Liem Nguyen (COM ‘21).
Student researchers were supported by the UNE COM Peter Morgane Student Research Fellowships. The study focused on nociceptive responses to various stimuli (including a proposed sphygmomanometer test) in a chronic pain patient sample and non-pain sample, as well as how behavioral factors affect such responses in these populations.
