The Boston Globe article, "My Brush with (Virtual) Death” by columnist, Scot Lehigh, featured Selina Bowler’s (COM ’21) 48-hour hospice immersion at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, ME. Marilyn Gugliucci, PhD, Director of Geriatrics Education at UNE COM, was also interviewed, highlighting UNE COM’s commitment to the care of older adults with the value placed on immersion experiences that give students the patients’ perspective, bringing understanding to the holistic care that is needed in order to treat patients with the dignity and respect deserved. BOSTON GLOBE REPORTS ON HOSPICE IMMERSION

First-year COM students, Matt Kilroe, Courtney Stern, and Marco Yeung volunteered for the Boston Marathon on April 15th as part of their medical team. Matt has worked the Finish Line as an EMT for 4 years; Courtney has worked as a CNA and Scribe for the ICU section of Finish Line Medical Tent for 4 years; and Marco has worked as a Scribe in the Finish Line Medical Tent for 6 years. Combined, they have 16 years of volunteering experience with the Boston Marathon Med Team.
