Award is sponsored by the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and is given to the student who demonstrates a propensity for EM. The Outstanding Clinical Performance Award is sponsored by the Clinical Affairs Department, and is based on glowing evaluations from preceptors at clinical sites.

The Chair of the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Department, Jodie Hermann, DO ’06, presented a series of awards. First, the NE

Academy of Osteopathy Award/OMM Department Award was given to Linsey Barker for her work in OMM. The UNECOM Department of OMM Recognition Award was given to Story Elliot. Finally, the Fellowship Award was presented to the Fellows for their hard-work and dedication: Patricia Collins, Emma Desjardins, Brian Holahan, Derek Lee, Gavin Kuns, Mark Matusak, Jay Patel, David Warnock, and Mark Unger.

New to the awards line-up this year was the Interprofession Education (IPE) Honors Distinction. Presented by COM Faculty, Victoria Stacy Thieme, DO ’93, IPE Com Clinical Faculty Representative, and Ryan Smith, DO ’10, the distinction honors those students who have demonstrated a commitment to collaborative practice. This was awarded to Corey Cole, and Anthony Pastore.

Dean Kelley took the stage again to present the Leadership Award to six students who were committed to both leadership and service for all four years of medical school. Michael Burns was selected for his work in the Student Government Association (SGA), as a Pre-SOMA Director, student interviewer, and for volunteering in activities such as Partners in World Health and McArthur Game Night. Alyssa Cali was also a member of the SGA, President of the Addiction Medicine Club, Co-President of Culinary Docs,

involved in teaching juveniles to cook in a half-way house, volunteered at Noah’s Walk and the Biddeford Soup Kitchen, and mentored at Biddeford Alternative School. Kyle Cornell was selected for his work as Class Vice President, Class Secretary/Treasurer, Orientation Co-Chair, student interviewer and tour guide, and for volunteering at the Maine Adaptive Program. Michael Madaio was a member of the SGA, Co-Vice President of SOIMA (the student-run internal medicine group), student interviewer and tour guide, and for his volunteer work at the Biddeford Intermediate School, Westbrook Intercultural Community Center, Biddeford Free Clinic,
