New Chair and Associate Chair of Biomedical Sciences

Mark Schuenke, PhD, Associate Professor in the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine, stepped into his new role as Interim Associate Chair of Biomedical Sciences as of June 18, 2018. He will be working alongside colleague, David Mokler, PhD, who has been acting Interim Chair. Both are veterans of the COM Department of Biological Sciences, and through their leadership, will continue to steer the department toward vast possibilities of growth and opportunity.

New Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship

Carol Brenner, PhD is the new Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship at UNE COM. Dr. Brenner brings a wealth of experience from prestigious leadership roles at other allopathic and osteopathic institutions. Dr. Brenner will help drive new initiatives to advance biomedical, clinical and translational research at UNE COM. She officially assumed her position on September 1, 2018.

New Director for the Center of Excellence in Aging and Health

Thomas M. Meuser, PhD is the inaugural Director for the Center for Excellence in Aging and Health (CEAH). The center was made possible by a generous gift from the Housing Initiatives of New England, a local nonprofit organization. One of Dr. Meuser’s main objectives will be to build programs in geriatrics and gerontology. He started his new position on September 1, 2018. Read more about Dr. Meuser.
