Transformation of Society
Ece Zeynep ÇETİN ‣
Transformation is not driven by strength or intelligence alone, but by the ability to adapt. The world we live in is a place of splendour, yes, but many things need to be done to preserve it and make sure it prospers. In many fields of life, whether in politics, education or environmental conservation, transformation needs to happen. Although transformation is not a comfortable process, it’ s always worth it. But it’ s easier said than done.

The root of these societal dilemmas is, of course, the people that make up this society. And people are hard to change. While humans by nature are empathetic and emotional beings, often when it comes to relations with others, things get complicated. When variables such as borders, religion, status and especially money come into play, people tend to be spiteful towards each other. Instead of building together, individuals and nations compete, undermine one another, and seek dominance at the expense of collective progress.
And this pursuit of power creates stagnation, making transformation seem impossible. The way we undermine each other is actually what is holding our societies back. However, making sure of meaningful change is still achievable. It begins with redefining power, not as control over others, but as mutual support and cooperation. Next, we must accept that differences do not diminish an individual’ s values or humanity. And to summarise everything that has been stated so far, I believe we must find the urge to change ourselves first and spread this to the ones around us. Transformation in the world is what happens when people heal and start investing in other people.
