This or That

When we think about transformation, we often see it in black and white, as something either good or bad. However, this cannot fully capture its vast meaning. To truly understand this dilemma, we must first learn to see and understand what transformation really is.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, transformation is defined as“ a complete change in the appearance or character of something or someone, especially so that that thing or person is improved.” If I were to shorten this definition into a single word, I would say“ change,” because transformation is often the result of multiple changes over time. But this action doesn’ t need to have physical changes involved.
Let’ s move on to what good and bad is. If I were to ask someone, the most probable answer would be“ something positive and something negative.” Yet, mostly everyone can agree it’ s far more complex than that. As an example, we can say the cost for the peace of one’ s mind. You might lose something valuable but gain peace of mind, and is it worth it? The answer will differ from person to person and from cost to cost.
In the end, transformation is not simply about change, but about the meaning we give to said change. It shapes us and the way we understand the strange world around us. For this reason, transformation is not black and white. Instead, it is a continuous process that builds us. If we don’ t let it do that, we will collapse against time.
